The Grid Scenario would serve the highest number of new jobs and population of the three vision scenarios, but maintains less coverage for existing riders.

With this Scenario, approximately 3.4% of existing daily riders would no longer be within 1/4 mile of service.

Grid Scenario

The Grid Scenario emphasizes direct service along major north-south and east-west streets to create a stronger grid network with more connections outside of downtown OKC. Most routes would continue to serve downtown OKC, but there is a lower focus on transfers in downtown OKC in this scenario and more transfers would take place outside of the downtown area.
 

New, more direct service would be provided on:

  • South 44th Street

  • North 63rd Street

  • MacArthur Boulevard

  • Portland Avenue

  • May Avenue

  • Pennsylvania Avenue

 

High frequency service, every 15-minutes or better,
would be provided on:

  • Northwest BRT

  • 10th Street Corridor

  • 23rd Street Corridor

  • Revised Route 013 between OCCC - Downtown - OU Health Center

 

The Grid Scenario would serve approximately:

  • 346,000 people (35% increase from today)

  • 154,000 low-income people (21% increase from today)

  • 261,000 jobs (19% increase from today)

  • 90,000 people within walking distance of 15-minute service

Route Changes

  • Route 002 would be removed and replaced with a revised Route 003. This route would no longer directly serve downtown OKC, but instead extend to the Belle Isle Walmart and NW Expressway. All areas currently served by Route 002 would continue to have service. Route 002 would allow direct transfers to high frequency service on Route 013 and Route 023.

  • Route 003 would be revised to provide service between the Belle Isle Walmart and Penn Square Mall area along NE 50th St. The adventure district area would continue to be served by a new Route 063. Route 003 would no longer directly serve downtown OKC. A 1/2 mile segment of NE 50th St between N Prospect Ave and N Martin Luther King Ave would no longer be served in this scenario. Route 003 would allow direct transfers to high frequency service on Route 013, Route 023, and NW BRT.

  • Route 005 would replaced by a combination of the NW BRT route and a revised Route 008. The segments of Western Ave and Classen Blvd between downtown OKC and NW Expressway would operate with higher frequency service, every 15 minutes. The 1 mile segment of W Memorial Rd between N May Ave and N Pennsylvania Ave would no longer have service.

  • Route 007 would be revised to provide direct north-south service along the N May Ave corridor between Quail Springs Mall and OCCC. Route 007 would also operate with high frequency service, every 15 minutes between Baptist Integris and OCCC. The route would deviate onto NW 59th St, N Independence Ave, and NW 50th St to provide direct service to Baptist Integris. Route 007 would no longer provide service into downtown OKC. The segment operating on Virginia Ave, Linwood Blvd, and Western Ave near downtown OKC would no longer be served. All other segments of the existing Route 007 would continue to have service. Route 007 would allow direct transfers with high frequency service on Route 013, Route 023, and Route 038 and would enable travel between north and south OKC without requiring a transfer downtown.

  • Route 008 would be revised to provide more direct, north-south service between the Santa Fe Ave Walmart, the Belle Isle Walmart, and Quail Springs Mall along SE 89th St, S Pennsylvania Ave, N Western Ave, W Hefner Rd, N Pennsylvania Ave, Quail Springs Pkwy, and W Memorial Rd. It would replace portions of the existing Route 005 and 016.  Service on NW 63rd St and Lyrewood Ln would continue to be served by a new Route 063 which would extend further west to serve the Council Rd Walmart. This route would no longer directly serve downtown OKC. Segments operating on Virginia Ave, 3rd St, 4th St, and Linwood Blvd near downtown OKC, the deviations to Baptist Integris along N May Ave, SW 59th St, N Independence Ave, and N Tulsa Ave, as well as service on NW Expressway and N MacArthur Blvd would no longer have service. All other segments currently served by Route 008 would continue to be served in this scenario. Route 008 would allow direct transfers with high frequency service on Route 013, Route 023, and Route 038 and would enable travel between north and south OKC without requiring a transfer in downtown OKC.

  • Route 009 The alignment of Route 009 would be unchanged in this scenario. 

  • Route 010 Route 010 would be replaced by a combination of the NW BRT Route, a new north-south route on Portland Ave (shown as Route P), and a new route on MacArthur Blvd and Meridian (shown as Route M). There would no longer be service on the relatively low ridership segments of NW 36th St between N Meridian Ave and N Portland Ave or on NW 16th St between N Portland Ave and N Classen Blvd. All other areas currently served by Route 010 would continue to have service.

  • Route 011 would be replaced with a combination of a revised Route 016 and new Routes 029 and 044. There would no longer be service on SW 17th St, S Grand Blvd, SW 25th St between S Grand Blvd and S May Ave, SE 29th St between S Robinson Ave and S High Ave, S High Ave, S Robinson Ave between 25th St and I-40, and the deviation onto 21st St and 23rd St. All other segments currently served by Route 011 would continue to have service. This shared alignment would allow direct transfers to high frequency service on Routes 007 and 013.

  • Route 012 would be replaced by a combination of Routes 008, 016, 029, 007, and 044. Service would be removed from the relatively low ridership segments W Reno Ave, Exchange Ave, and S Agnew Ave between SW 25th St and SW 29th St. All other areas currently served by Route 012 would continue to be served. Direct service between OCCC and downtown OKC would continue to be provided by Route 013 with improved service frequency, every 15 minutes.

  • Route 013 would be improved to provide 15 minute service frequency and would be revised to provide more direct service between OCCC, downtown OKC, and the OU Health Center. The route would no longer operate on SW 74th St and would instead serve SW 59th St between S May Ave and S Western Ave. Route 013 would also operate on Main St in downtown OKC instead of on SW 3rd St and SW 4th St and would be extended northeast of downtown along 23rd St. 

  • Route 014 would be replaced with a combination of Route 040 and a new Route 044. Route 040 would continue to operate on the segment of S Walker Ave currently served by Route 014 and Route 044 would provide more direct east-west service on SE 44th St. Service would no longer be provided on Bryant Ave, 59th St west of Sunnylane Rd, Eastern Ave, 59th St, Crossroads Mall, I-35, or Shields Blvd. All other areas currently served by Route 014 would continue to have service. The new Route 044 would now provide direct access to the SE 15th St Walmart and allow transfers to the high frequency service on Routes 007 and 013 as well as routes serving the Reno Mini Hub.

  • Route 015 would be simplified to operate along the same alignment into and out of downtown OKC on I-235, serve the SE 15th St Walmart, Rose State College, Midwest City High School, and terminate at St. Anthony Hospital - Midwest. Service would be removed from SE 15th St, N Midwest Blvd, NE 10th St, S Douglas Blvd, and E Reno Ave between N Midwest Blvd and S Douglas Blvd. Service would also be removed from the Tinker Diagonal and SE 29th St near I-40. All areas with removed service would continue to be served by an on-demand zone which would provide additional connectivity within Del City, Midwest City, and Spencer. Frequency on Route 015 is improved to hourly service.

  • Route 016 would be realigned to provide coverage to high-need areas, providing connections between downtown OKC, the warehouse and fulfillment center employment hubs on Council Rd, and the Reno Mini Hub via Exchange Ave, Westwood Blvd, SW 25th St, S Agnew Ave, SW 15th St, S MacArthur Blvd, SW 44th St, Council Rd, and Reno Ave. The segment of Route 016 that previously operated on S Pennsylvania Ave would continue to be served by a revised Route 008. Service would no longer be provided on Kentucky Ave between SW 25th St and SW 29th St. All other segments currently served by Route 016 would continue to be served.

  • Route 018 would be largely unchanged south of I-44. The route would continue to operate on N Kelley Ave and E Britton Rd as it does today but would be extended further west and north on E Britton Rd, N Western Ave, Pawnee Dr, and Highland Park Dr to provide direct service to the Pennsylvania Ave Walmart and Quail Springs Mall. Service currently provided by Route 018 on NE 63rd St would now be provided by a new Route 063. Service would no longer be provided on Service Rd. All other areas currently served by Route 018 would continue to be served.

  • Route 019 would be replaced with a new on-demand zone serving Spencer, Midwest City, and Del City. Passengers within this zone would be able to arrange for a trip using a mobile phone application or dedicated call in number that will provide transportation to and from anywhere within that zone. Connections to other EMBARK routes would be through Route 015.\\

  • Route 022 would be unchanged in this scenario.

  • Route 023 would be improved to provide 15 minute service frequency. All areas currently served by Route 023 would continue to be served and would have improved service frequency, operating every 15 minutes.

  • Route 024 would be unchanged in this scenario.

  • Route 038 - The alignment of Route 038 would be unchanged in this scenario but service frequency would be improved to operate every 15 minutes. 

  • Route 040 would be extended further south along Santa Fe Ave, NE 12th St, Broadway St, and 19th St to provide service to the City of Moore and the shopping centers located adjacent to 19th St and I-35. The route would no longer operate a terminal loop on SW 104th St, S Western Ave, SW 89th St, and S Walker Ave. All other areas currently served by Route 040 would continue to have service in this scenario.

New Routes
  • Route 029 is a new route providing direct east-west service between the 15th St Walmart in Del City and the Reno Mini Hub. The route would operate along 15th St, Central Ave, 25th St, Robinson Ave, 29th St, MacArthur Blvd, and Reno Ave. This route replaces service currently provided by Route 011 and Route 012 and allows for more direct east-west travel along the 29th St and 15th St corridors in south OKC without requiring a transfer downtown.

  • Route 044 is a new route that provides a direct east-west connection between the 15th St Walmart in Del City and the Reno Mini Hub. The route would operate every 30 minutes along Sooner Rd, 59th St, Sunnylane Rd, 44th St, Portland Ave, 29th St, Meridian Ave, and Reno Ave. The route replaces service currently provided by Route 011, Route 012, and Route 014 and allows for more direct east-west travel along the 44th St corridor in south OKC without requiring a transfer downtown.

  • Route 063 is a new route providing direct east-west service between the Adventure District and the Walmart located near Council Rd and NW Expressway. The route operates along Grand Blvd, 63rd St, deviates to provide direct service to the Belle Isle Walmart and Penn Square Mall along Western Ave, Classen Blvd, Belle Isle Blvd, NW Expressway, and Pennsylvania Ave before continuing along 63rd St, Lyrewood Lane, and operating a terminal loop along Wilshire Blvd, Council Rd, NW Expressway, and Rockwell Ave. The route replaces service currently provided by Route 003, Route 018, and Route 008, extends service to serve additional key employment hubs on NW Expressway, and allows additional east-west travel in north OKC without requiring transfers downtown.

  • Route A is a new express service that provides a direct connection between downtown OKC, Bricktown, the Amtrak Station, the Oklahoma City Convention Center, and Will Rogers Airport. The route would operate along S Shields Blvd, Oklahoma City Blvd, S Robinson Ave, I-40, and Meridian Ave, serving the hotels and commercial developments along Meridian Ave between I-40 and the airport.

 

  • Route M is a new route providing a direct connection between Baptist Integris and the Reno Mini Hub along 50th St, Meridian Ave, 36th St, MacArthur Blvd, and Reno Ave. The route replaces service currently provided by Route 008 and Route 010. This route would provide a new, direct connection between two key travel centers and employment hubs on the west side of OKC without requiring travel into downtown OKC to transfer.

 

  • Route P is a new route providing direct north-south service along the Portland Ave corridor between Baptist Integris and OCCC. The route replaces service currently provided by Route 008, Route 010, and Route 012. The route would also provide a new connection to the Amazon Fulfillment Center located at Portland Ave & 89th St. This route would also serve the Walmart and Crest Foods located on 104th between May Ave and I-44.

 

  • On-Demand Zones - Two new on-demand zones are proposed in the MacArthur Blvd area (generally between NW Expressway, N Rockwell Ave, W Memorial Rd, and N Meridian Ave) and the Midwest City-Spencer area (generally between SE 29th St, S Westminster Rd, NE 23rd St, Harper St, NE 36th St, N Hiwassee Rd, and NE 50th St). Customers may request rides to and from anywhere within these zones using a mobile phone application or dedicated call in number. Customers may travel anywhere within these zones, including to make transfers with Routes 007, 015, 063, and the NW BRT Route.
